Simplifying Granlund’s nationwide workspace solutions without compromising quality or collaboration

Granlund, a company specializing in construction and real estate, has been using Spacent’s hybrid working model since 2021. Granlund has its main office in Malmi, Helsinki, and they initially needed to find a flexible network of workspaces for employees in the Helsinki metropolitan area to support a mobile working style. At the same time, Granlund reviewed its office portfolio and clarified hybrid working practices. Spacent helped Granlund improve the available selection of professional workspaces, without compromising on quality or collaboration opportunities.

Granlund employees can book workspaces from the Spacent network using a single app, and these workspaces are managed under a single agreement. Employees have access to several network locations that meet ergonomic and quality standards. To facilitate teamwork, the Spacent app offers a view of where ones colleagues are working with an option to easily book a workspace from the same locations. Additionally, the Spacent app provides the possibility for team bookings, making it easier to plan collaborations and meet with others.

Over the years, use of the service provided by Spacent has also expanded beyond the Helsinki metropolitan area. Now, workspaces can be booked all over Finland. The use of the spaces is monitored with monthly analytics.

“One thing we wanted to pay special attention to was maintaining a collaborative work environment. On the Spacent app, it is easy to follow, in the colleague view, to which locations colleagues are making reservations, and it’s easy to make reservations for the same locations,” says Minna Lappalainen, HR Director at Granlund.

The Spacent workspace network flexibly and naturally complements Granlund’s locations, and the monthly booking analytics create predictability in assessing space needs. Over the years, use of the Spacent service has expanded among Granlund employees outside the Helsinki metropolitan area. One contract and one application cover workspace reservations nationwide simplifying workspace management. Since the introduction of the hybrid model, the number of workspace reservations has increased significantly year by year, especially in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

“Spacent’s hybrid working model has been an excellent support for mobile working, as it allows easy booking of high-quality workspaces with a wide geographical coverage using a single app,” Lappalainen states.

Granlund and Spacent are currently exploring opportunities for international collaboration. The curation of the workspace network and optimization of workspace entities will continue using analytics to ensure smooth working in the future.
