EY provided its employees with access to over 170 remote offices through Spacent

EY

Ernst & Young, one of the world’s leading audit and consulting firms, is committed to creating a better work environment for its employees, clients, and communities. At the core of EY’s strategy is embracing change and innovation, and the development of a new office and work environment is no exception. EY makes bold decisions and agilely and fearlessly experiments with new solutions, aiming to create a work environment where employees always find suitable spaces for every activity and situation.

Through Spacent, EY provides its 900 employees at the Helsinki headquarters with the ability to choose from approximately 170 coworking locations, in addition to their own office and home. Spacent’s network complements EY’s workspace solution, always catering to the needs of employees. Integrating third-party spaces promotes a comprehensive transformation of the work culture, which should be seen as more than just a real estate project.

“Face-to-face interactions in our own office are important, but it’s also crucial to find a suitable space for quiet and independent work, which is sometimes more effective when done closer to home. With Spacent, EY employees have significantly more options for this,” says Patrik Etelävuori from EY.

“It’s also crucial to find a suitable space for quiet and independent work, which is sometimes more effective when done closer to home.”

Last year, EY published the Work Reimagined Survey, which revealed that 90% of employees expect flexibility in remote work opportunities. Up to 54% are willing to seek new employment if flexibility is not provided.

Patrik Etelävuori, EY Finland’s Workplace Transformation Lead, emphasizes the need to think more broadly about workplace transformation: “We need to have a comprehensive view on the entire work environment and the way of working, and we can’t talk about them as only office projects anymore.”

“Spacent is part of EY’s workspace strategy, which is centered around people. Face-to-face interactions in our own office are important, but it’s also crucial to find a suitable space for quiet and independent work, which is sometimes more effective when done closer to home. With Spacent, EY employees have significantly more options for this,” he adds.

According to EY, the new, more flexible mindset brings numerous benefits, and the integrated office and hybrid work solution materializes these benefits for both the company and employees. Employees have the freedom and permission to use spaces that best suit their daily tasks at various locations. As a result, the company operates in a more sustainable way, employee satisfaction is on the rise and costs decrease while space efficiency improves.

In addition to utilizing Spacent’s service, Spacent and EY collaborate on analyzing usage data. This creates knowledge and insights that companies can leverage to deepen their understanding of how their employees work, and apply that information to their workspace solutions. Harnessing data and information about workplace transformation also enables leaps in productivity through engaged personnel.

“The freedom to choose one’s own ways of working also enhances the employee experience.”

“The freedom to choose one’s own ways of working also enhances the employee experience. Such an organization also attracts talent, to whom such flexibility is already self-evident,” concludes Etelävuori.
